At the Institute of Theoretical Physics (ITP), a broad spectrum of modern theoretical physics is researched and an extensive lecture programme on current research topics is offered. The ITP is part of several Research Training Groups, runs an active seminar programme and forms the Riemann Center for Geometry and Physics with institutes of mathematics.
With its Starting Grants, the European Research Council supports excellent and visionary research by outstanding young scientists with up to €1.5 million each. The Starting Grants cover a funding period of five years. The aim is to support scientific independence by helping researchers establish their own research groups.
